Scottsdale, Arizona - Sassy Feet Reflexology by Ginny
Reflexology is both an art and a science performed primarily on the feet and hands using a finger and thumb technique on the zones and reflex areas that correspond to all parts of the body. Through applied pressure, energy blocks can be released in corresponding zones to rebalance the entire body.

Benefits of reflexology treatments include

  • Stress and tension reduction

  • Increased energy
  • Improved circulation
  • Cleanse body of toxins

We have over 7,000 nerves in our feet that make that connection to all parts of the body. Reflexology therapy is a very soothing therapeutic modality in which the body, mind and spirit are nurtured towards cleansing and healing.

True reflexology is not a foot massage at all. But like massage it is very relaxing and it elicits an autonomic nervous system response which plays a key role in the body's response to stress. Stress and the body's inability to relax are contributing factors to many diseases making reflexology more of a necessity than a luxury.

Most everyone can use the stress-relieving results of reflexology therapy - even those who aren't able to have conventional massage therapy due to physical limitations or who may be uncomfortable about removing all of their clothes. With reflexology, you only need to remove your shoes and socks. The pressure used in Reflexology is firm and consistent, and ticklish clients have found it to be very soothing.

"Reflexology is as old as acupuncture and ancient texts indicate that different cultures had their own variations of this art."

The feet serve as a sensory organ for the body, continuously interpreting and responding to both internal and external stimuli. The body’s internal stress level is always reflected in the feet. At the same time, the feet are constantly adapting to the demands of the outside world.

Internally, stress distorts the ongoing messages that the brain sends to the nervous system and internal organs. Reflexology interrupts these distorted messages and ‘resets’ the communication from the brain, reducing stress and normalizing the body’s internal functions.

The effect of reflexology pressure is to release restricted energy flow, improve blood supply and promote neurological stimulation of the affected area. The goal of reflexology work is to break down uric acid crystal deposits in the body, or electrical part of the nervous system to help restore internal balance.

Doctor William Fitzgerald developed reflexology as we know it today in 1913 and further research was done by Eunice Ingham. She developed the "map" of the body pertaining to reflexology.  This natural therapy has demonstrated a profound ability to stimulate a powerful healing potential throughout the body. Because of the physiology of circulation in the lower extremities of the body, and the uniquely sensitive and responsive nature of nerve endings in the feet, reflexology to the feet, hands, or ears can stimulate a powerful healing effect throughout the body.

If you have any of the following conditions, you should speak to your medical doctor before booking an appointment: severe athlete’s foot, varicose veins (in feet), pitted edema, broken bones of the foot or ankle, infections, painful ingrown toenails or corns, gout, warts, recent surgery, or are in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.

Sessions generally last 30 to 60 minutes. Ask about multiple reflexology session discounts. Reflexology makes a great gift and gift certificates are available!
